Entries are flowing in for the JPG. Journey Contest, which allows all students and faculty to get involved in Gulliver’s art department.

“We already have quite a few submissions in each category for the first day,” said art teacher and contest director Stacy Goldman.

Submissions began Monday, February 9, each entrant taking photos on their smartphones to submit to the categories best abstract, best cityscape, best filters, best food, best nature close-up, best panorama, best portrait, most creative, and most meaningful. With so many refreshing topics to inspire photography, intriguing photos have come from a variety of members from the Gulliver community.

“I was impressed seeing the other submissions,” said English teacher Adam Schachner, “but knowing a film camera is the prize makes me really want to win.”

The best overall photo winner will receive a Fujifilm Instax MINI 7s Instant Film Camera, a fun, high-quality point-and-shoot camera, but the art department may be even more excited about the enthusiasm it is drawing to the program.

“It was hard to stick to three photos to submit,” said sophomore Julia Daly, “but it was still fun.”
