Former Disney star Nick Jonas returns to the music world with his new self titled album, distinguishing himself as a solo artist.

Five years after his success  in the Jonas Brothers, the band he played in along with his two older brothers Joe and Kevin, Nick Jonas releases a new album, attempting to redefine himself as a mature artist. Self titled Nick Jonas, his album recently released on Nov. 10, already making its way up the iTunes charts. His single “Jealous” has also taken a place on the iTunes charts as well as the Billboard Hot 100.

Though technically a pop album, Jonas recently revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine that the new album has R&B and soul elements as well. His interview  also revealed some of the artists that inspired his album from Prince and Stevie Wonder to The Weekend. Some contributing artists to his album include Mike Posner and Taio Cruz in addition to his collaboration with friend and also former Disney star Demi Lovato, in the emotional song titled “Avalanche”.

Despite splitting up the Jonas Brothers, Jonas recently revealed to Radio Disney Studios that his brothers remain completely supportive of his solo career.

“They really like “Numb,” and they loved “Avalanche” as well. It was good to play that for them and to know I have their support going into it all.” revealed Jonas in his  Radio Disney interview.

Jonas has also made headlines recently after photos from a racy photoshoot for Flaunt magazine, appearing in shirtless, in his underwear, and even grabbing his crotch in some shots. This shoot has inspired a variation of reactions from the general public, not surprising considering his former Disney stardom. Jonas has also appeared in a DirectTV show Kingdom where he appears naked a number of times.

With his anticipated new album and sexy photoshoot, expect to see a lot more of this grown up Disney star in entertainment news to come.
