Both the girls and boys tennis teams kicked off their season with impressive momentum, establishing themselves as early contenders in the competitive Florida high school circuit. The boys team is currently sitting at a 6-2 record and the girls team boasts an impressive 7-3 overall record. Both teams are ranked 1st in their districts respectively, with a 2-0 record. Under sunny skies, both squads have rattled off a series of victories in their opening matches against strong schools such as Palmer Trinity, Ransom Everglades and Mast Academy.
What stands out the most for the girls team in specific, is the unity that has fueled their success. Freshman Siena Ringel, a key contributor in the singles lineup, highlighted the positive team dynamic.
“I really love how well the team has gotten along throughout the season. We’ve pushed ourselves when things get tough and have fought through some really close matches,” Ringel said.
This camaraderie has translated into supportive practice sessions, where players push each other to improve while celebrating every point and victory.
On the boys’ side, junior Alexander Zelanov has stood out, delivering consistent wins at the singles one position and partnering effectively in doubles with junior Lorenzo Martinez.
“I’m very happy with the way I’ve been playing and I hope to improve on some fronts.” Zelanov said.

Zelenov shared the main goal of the team wanting to make it to states.
“I couldn’t have asked to be part of a better group of people. Everyone is so welcoming and I think that has translated to our matches,” freshman Nicolas Medel said.
The first year rookie has been a great addition to the team especially in doubles where he holds a 1-0 record in doubles. Medel looks to pick up a bigger role on the team in the future.
The boys team has a total of 2 matches left, one being this Wednesday, being their senior day against Immaculata-La Salle. The girls, on the other hand, have 3 more yet to be played. With few matches left the team looks to finish their regular season strong, aiming to get past districts and regionals to eventually meet their goal of winning states.
