As seniors prepare to close this chapter of their lives, many are taking time to recognize the lessons and experiences that have defined their high school journey. From academics to athletics to personal challenges, these moments have helped shape who they are and what they will carry with them into college and beyond.
For senior Santiago Estrada, one of the most important lessons he learned was the value of keeping an open mind and stepping outside of his comfort zone. As he prepares to attend the University of Texas at Austin, he reflects on how trying something new changed his perspective.
“I realized I was too focused on soccer and was closing myself off,” he said. “Trying out for golf in my senior year was the best decision I made.”
What started as a simple decision turned into one of his most meaningful high school experiences. His time on the golf team not only became his favorite memory, but also taught him to embrace new opportunities and remain open-minded as he enters this next stage of life.
Similarly, senior Mimi Spillis found her growth through the EDGE program, which supports students with learning differences. Through her experience, she learned the importance of advocating for herself and using the resources available to her. As she prepares to transition to college life, where she will no longer have the same day-to-day support from her parents, Spillis understands the value of independence and self-advocacy. She emphasizes that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but rather a necessary skill for success. Her time in EDGE helped her build confidence and taught her to take initiative, lessons she plans to carry with her into her college experience.
“Asking for help used to be something I was embarrassed about, but it became one of my greatest lessons,” Spillis said.

For senior Jonah Weissmann, his journey was defined by his commitment to the baseball team. After four years of dedication, practices, and games, he looks back on his experience with pride. Through baseball, Weissmann learned discipline and the importance of consistency, realizing that hard work each day truly pays off over time. Beyond the lessons on the field, however, it was the moments with his teammates that stood out the most. From long practices to team trips and field excursions, these shared experiences created lasting memories and strong bonds that he will carry with him long after graduation.
“Gulliver baseball was more than just great memories; it also taught me discipline,” Weissmann said.
While each student’s experience is unique, a common theme emerges from the experiences of the Class of 2026: growth, resilience, and the lessons learned along the way. Whether it was trying something new, learning to ask for help, or committing to a team, these seniors are leaving not only with memories but with values that will guide them in the years ahead. As graduation approaches, it is clear that the impact of their time will extend far beyond the classroom, shaping the people they are becoming and the paths they will pursue.
