Between April 13 and 15, a variety of students’ artwork was displayed in the Hu court as part of the Annual Art Exhibition. These pieces constituted the work that the ceramics, sculpture, painting, and drawing classes have created.
On Monday night, an evening reception was held to mark the commencement of the exhibition. Students and teachers spent the prior week transforming the court into a beautiful display of art pieces.
Ceramics teacher Joseph Golinski spoke about the importance of students being able to show off their work to a larger audience than just their classroom.
“I am beyond proud of how well all of my students have progressed throughout the year, and the art show is a great way to showcase their work on a larger scale. Some of the pieces we have worked on this year included teapots, coil pieces, and real-life animal portrayals. For some students, it was their first year working with clay, and they showed true perseverance even when things didn’t seem to be going so well.” Golinski said.

As for the students, they feel that the art exhibition is finally their chance to showcase the hard work that they put into their classes.
Julia Kay, a sophomore artist, takes Art and Design honors and has revealed her passion for seeing the final products for some of the pieces that took almost a year to perfect.
“The art show is really special because it gives students a chance to share their creativity and see how everyone expresses themselves differently. It’s inspiring to see years of hard work come together in one space,” Kay said.
For some, it wasn’t necessarily the art that made them enjoy the event but rather the attention it drew to their pieces in particular.
“I loved seeing people drawn to my pieces because it truly made my day. That feeling of recognition is like no other. It gives your work a sense of validation and makes you feel better about the amount of work you put into all your pieces throughout the year,” sophomore Nicolas Leal said.
