On Thursday, Feb. 26, the girls’ varsity lacrosse team competed against Ransom Everglades School. Despite a determined effort for all four quarters, the Raiders fell 19-9 in a fast-paced matchup.
The opposing team gained momentum early, scoring quickly and forcing the Raiders to play from behind. Even as the deficit grew, the Raiders continued to push the pace offensively and support one another defensively. Senior Attackers Mia Sullivan and Emma Die-Dienes each contributed a goal, helping keep the team’s energy alive throughout the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Isa McErlane faced steady pressure in the net and reflected honestly on the loss.
“Losing is definitely hard for me because I’m very competitive,” McErlane said. “Even though I’m new to the sport, I expect myself to be the best immediately.”
While she acknowledged her own high standards, McErlane emphasized what mattered most after the final whistle.
“Even through all my negative thoughts, I have my team,” McErlane said. “They were the ones who came running to me, cheering even though we lost. I would rather lose the game than lose this team.”
Sophomore Defenseman Daira Perez pointed to the team’s constant communication and enthusiasm as a defining factor.
“The team energy from the first minute to the last never stopped — energy was the best tool that the team had,” Perez said. “As a team, we were never silent. We were screaming and supporting each other until the last minute.”

Perez also highlighted what the team learned moving forward, emphasizing how growth comes from moments like this.
“We learned communication is key, and that support takes a big part,” Perez said. “I’m proud that as a team we never gave up.”
Sophomore Attacker Margaret Keller said the loss reflects growth rather than discouragement.
“The team stays positive after a loss by knowing that we are an entirely new team and we are still improving,” Keller said. “Each game we see a big improvement in our play, and it can only go up from where we are.”
Although the scoreboard favored the opponent, the Raiders’ unity and resilience stood out. Through every challenge, the team proved that its foundation is built on effort, improvement,
and unwavering support for one another.
