College visits are taking place at the Prep Campus from over 100 various colleges around the country throughout the school year. The majority of school visits occur during the college fair on Oct. 18. The college fair is mandatory for all juniors.
The college seminars are open to all juniors and seniors interested in listening to information about possible universities to apply to. Schools including American University, Boston University and Vanderbilt University have already come to speak to the students.
To sign up for any of the seminars, students may use Naviance, a website that schedules college visits, in order to register for the meetings. Students can enter the page directly through the student portal and register with the school email and password. Select the college tab and to the right there is a link that shows all upcoming visits.
By going to these college seminars, students learn about all the different types of schools around the country. Representatives from schools come and talk about life on campus and the education specialties at the college. For seniors, these visits are set up to help make the choices on where to apply less stressful. Not only do the visits apply to seniors but also for the juniors, who want to get a head start on the college process.
“It is the perfect opportunity for juniors to start learning about the different types of colleges that are fit for them,” said College Counselor Warren Zucker.
Attending a seminar opens up the student’s minds to the possibilities that come from going to college. Listening to not only things about the academic aspects of college but also about the way of life excites and informs them about the multiple opportunities that arise in college. Make sure to not miss any college visits and keep checking for new upcoming seminars.
