The Raiders are expected to make some noise in the 2015 season. However, they are introducing a new quarterback, sophomore Harrison Easton.
Easton was a back up quarterback for the Raiders during the 2014 season. However, he is the starter heading into this season.
The quarterback position is regarded by many as one, if not the most important player on the football field. There is a great amount of responsibility that comes with this, as well as pressure.
“There is a lot of expectations and pressure with being the quarterback, but I have a lot of support from the players surrounding me,” said Easton.
Easton is coming in with a very talented group of players, as the team is regarded as one of the front runners for their district.
“With all the hype, we know that every game is one that we can not take lightly because we have to live up to our own set expectations not only from our coaches and school, but the people that come watch us play,” said Easton.
In the team’s 37-14 win over Somerset Academy during a preseason classic, he started and played during the whole first half. For the most part, Easton played well. However, he threw an interception.
“Easton is a great leader who is passionate, and that passion is contagious and really gets the rest of the team going,” said junior running back Robert Burns.
It’s a rarity for a sophomore to lead a team as talented as the Raiders. That was exactly the case as Easton was the starter for the team’s loss Friday Aug. 28 against Oxbridge Academy. He suffered an injury and his status for the next few games is unknown.
Easton hopes to recover from his injury and lead the Raiders to a promising 2015 season.
