Six student groups participated in the first ever Entrepreneurship Program’s Business Plan showcase on Feb. 20 at the Crossbridge Church.

The six groups were chosen as the best in their respective classes and were brought together in front of students, parents, teachers, and a panel of esteemed judges. The panel of judges included community business leaders and school faculty. The purpose of this event was to have the judges select which plan to send to the Miami Dade Private School Business Competition which be held next month. The  judges rated them using a rubric that combined how well thought out the plan was as well as the quality of the idea itself.

“I thought the event as a whole was both informational and fun as I had a great time seeing the amount of hard effort that was put into these plans,” said sophomore Nicholas Atkison, who attended the showcase.

At the end of the night the judges decided that the group led by juniors Gabriela Telepman and Madeline Grannados called ROBA was both the most thought out plan and the best idea.

After several in-class presentations and using feedback from their classmates and their teachers. The idea of ROBA is to have fashion at your fingerprints as it is meant to be a referral website that will let you click on any fashion item that a celebrity is wearing and direct you to outfits that are either exactly like that or the most similar.  A vibration band that will give alarms called Vi-Band finished in second place which was led by sophomores Thomas Sarmiento and Harlan Rifkind, and junior Timmy Kaplan. Other plans included a t-shirt company Kuamini, a more eco-friendly alternative to styrofoam cups, and health nut which would be a healthy restaurant.

“I feel like we could have not done it without the feedback and positive support we got from our classmates and we are going to take that momentum into the Miami dade competition,” said junior Madeline Granados.

The students will now focus their attention on perfecting their presentation for the Miami Dade competition where they face off against five private schools such as Ransom Everglades and Pinecrest.
