The boy’s varsity basketball team captured a huge 73-67 win over their archrival Ransom Everglades in a back and forth game, giving them a 6-1 league record.
The team played in one of the most hard fought games of the season as nearly each time Ransom scored, Gulliver answered back with a basket of their own.
“I feel like our team can go to states when we play our best, and that was shown with
this huge win,” said head coach Manny Bloom.
The game was tied at the end of regulation 62-62 however. Gulliver dominated in overtime, outscoring Ransom 11-5 in the period.
Senior Guard Mitch Patullo who scored a season high 27 points while grabbing eight rebounds.
The win highlighted several top performers including junior forward Joseph Jackson, who had a double double with his 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Cody Bowes also had a solid game scoring 13 points while dominating the boards with eight rebounds.
The team played a great offensive game scoring 73 points and shooting nearly 50% from the field.
With their Jan. 14 58-49 win over Keys Gate Charter School the team is now 10-8 on the year and 7-1 in district play. The Varsity basketball boys play again on Jan 19 in the MLK Tournament at Ransom.
