Nothing brings in the warm nostalgia of the holiday season better than a fresh-baked batch of festive cookies. This crowd-pleasing recipe is perfect for family gatherings, or as a companion to a hot cup of cocoa.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 2/3 cup finely ground almonds
- Powdered sugar
Instructions:
1. Mix together butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add flour and ground almonds.
- Roll up dough in plastic wrap, shaping it into a 10-in. sausage shape. Refrigerate for at least one hour, until the dough is firm.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice dough into 1/4 in. rounds. (Personally, I use unwaxed dental floss to cut the individual cookies, using a knife on the dough is difficult)
- Place cookies on parchment-lined cookie sheets. Bake cookies for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with powdered sugar
- Enjoy the seasonal treat!
