Video: Students share mixed opinions about the new Wednesday schedule

What used to be “early day” has now become “late day” with new changes made to the Wednesday schedule. In an effort to allow students an extra hour of sleep once a week, the schedule has been altered to make school begin late at 9:15 a.m. and end late at 3:45 p.m.. However, students share mixed reviews about how effective this new schedule will actually be.

“We can wake up a little bit later, so we have more sleep,” said senior Roberta Salles Macêdo, who approves of the new schedule. “It’s good, I’m liking it.”

As nice as it will be to sleep in during the week, some students do not find the new changes to the schedule as accommodating as others. It is also difficult for students who live far away or who have siblings at the Academy.

“I’m not a huge fan of it because the traffic in the morning is absolutely ridiculous,” said sophomore Bella Peterson. “I think it’s not only important to have a lot of sleep, but a consistent sleep schedule.”

It’s clear that the well-intentioned schedule change hasn’t gone well with every student. However, it does promise many students that extra hour of rest they very much need.
