The Raiders track and field team is in the homestretch of their season, and with regionals up ahead, they have a lot to train and prepare for. The team had a challenging start to their year, with a change of coaches mid-season, but with hard work they turned it around and participated at multiple meets. With a big roster, not all athletes can compete in the same meet, but Coach David Suarez made sure everyone had the chance to perform throughout the season.

“Last track season I worked really hard and I didn’t really improve, but I didn’t give up and continued working and this season I improved a lot and finally saw the work that I put in” said sophomore Daniel Thompson.

The team worked really hard to get to the place they are at now, however the team hopes to work hard to improve even more.

“We as a team encourage each other to push through the pain while we’re running during the meets and motivate one another to finish the race which i believe is a great life lesson to have and learn.” Said junior Joy Hall.

“The team has made huge improvements this season on all aspects and I think the future is bright. My goal is for Gulliver to become one of the top teams in the state of Florida and be known as a powerhouse school.” said Coach David Suarez.

Coaches look forward to regionals and next year’s season, where they will see new and returning athletes excited to try their best in the sport.
