Harry Styles is back! Last Friday night, the British singer performed at the BB&T Center at 9:00 pm to a crowd wild with excitement.

Styles is a well-known performer originally from the boy band One Direction. After the band split in 2015, Styles has successfully launched a solo career and his latest concert tour, “Love on Tour,” has been the talk of listeners around the country.

Fans who bought tickets on the original announcement in Nov. 2019 had been waiting nearly two years for the event due to many COVID postponements. None of those who attended the Oct. 15 concert would mistake the event for anything other than a pandemic-era concert. Everyone in the arena was required to show proof of vaccination, or at least evidence of a negative COVID-19 test within the last 48 hours to be allowed in. Masks were also mandated at all times except while eating and drinking. Nevertheless, the precautions didn’t stop any fans from having fun. The expectations were high and Styles exceeded them.

I bought these tickets around a year and a half ago, and the tour was postponed for a little more than a year. I think this sense of lost time was present in the minds of everyone in the arena. The show opened with “Golden,” a fun and high-energy song designed to hype up a crowd. It did! The arena was filled with so much energy, and fans stood out in fun and colorful outfits.

The concert continued with a mix of mellow songs, like “Only Angel” and “Sign of the Times,” but also featured upbeat songs like “Watermelon Sugar” and “Adore You.” Styles even surprised fans with a performance of “What Makes You Beautiful,” an iconic hit from One Direction. This concert was one of the best nights I have had in a long time. With childlike and relentless energy, Styles ran around the stage, giving attention to fans throughout the arena. This made the crowd go crazy. I sat pretty high in the area, but it still felt like I was right up at the front.

As the night went on, Styles’ and the fans’ energy did not stop. My friends and my voices were completely lost afterward. Styles ended the encore with the high-powered, beloved concert song “Kiwi.” This song was perfect to wrap up the eventful night. Getting the chance to see Styles and hear his music in person was amazing, and next time he goes on tour I will be buying another ticket.
