Preparing treats and having an outdoor picnic at a local park was a popular COVID-safe way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with loved ones this year.

Valentine’s Day is a day to show your significant other your love and how much you appreciate them, or celebrate the loving day with friends. Unfortunately, with COVID, this may seem a bit difficult to do. But that didn’t stop people from having fun and also staying safe. Many people went out with their friends and family this weekend and also followed COVID guidelines.

For example, on Valentines Day I decided to go out with a small group of friends to Merri Christmas Park and have a mini picnic. I first invited the group to my house to bake. We made cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, and a delicious cake while wearing our masks. We then went to the park and enjoyed these delicious treats.

Some other Valentine’s Day activities people did this weekend with friends or significant others that are both fun COVID-safe include:

  • Making a breakfast in bed
  • Matching outfits!
  • Decorate your home
  • Photo book
  • Make a charcuterie board (what I did!)
  • Making cards for loved ones

All of these fun ideas are inexpensive and follow COVID-19 guidelines. Making your home festive for Valentine’s Day is a great way to celebrate, especially with loved ones. You can also have fun at school too — here are some activities that students did.

  • Get creative with decorations
  • Host a virtual Valentine’s Day party
  • Give out candy
  • Make a heart college

Despite modifications due to the pandemic, Valentine’s Day is still a fun holiday to celebrate, and like many other holidays this year, you can still be with loved ones and enjoy the day safely!
