On Apr. 18, Marvel released a teaser trailer for the fourth Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.

For many Marvel fans, the teaser’s release was a big day. Although the teaser did not reveal much, fans were still excited to receive some information about the upcoming film. With this small teaser being released, there are a lot of questions among Thor’s fanbase.

The last time we saw Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth), he seemed off, but for the right reasons. At this point, his mother, his father, and his brother had passed away. He also blamed himself for the snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. I see this new movie as a journey for Thor to find peace within himself, after everything he’s been through in the past few years. As we saw in the trailer, his journey of peace becomes interrupted by a new villain that is being introduced.

Marvel fans know Thor as a character for comedic relief in serious scenes, and we get to see this side of his character a lot throughout the trailer. This brings a small light in the Phase 4 universe, where the themes are very dark. The final scene of the teaser is what sparked for fans on social media to go wild. At the end of the teaser, we see who appears to be Jane Foster (Thor’s ex-girlfriend that can be seen in previous movies, played by Natalie Portman) holding Mjolnir, Thor’s magical hammer, that only the worthy can hold. This sparked a lot of buzz regarding whether or not that was the same Jane Foster we’ve seen in the previous movies, or if this was just a variant of her.

My thoughts on this teaser are simple, yet I have so many questions. Is that actually Jane Foster? How is she holding Thor’s hammer? Does this mean she’s worthy? The list of questions goes on. Not only was I asking these questions while watching the teaser, but I was wondering where this all falls into the whole multiverse theme of Phase 4. Knowing Marvel, they will find some way to tie it all together and probably already revealed hints through the teaser that nobody has caught onto yet. This movie is definitely going to tell us a little bit more about Thor’s life, and just gives us some small details as a filler movie for what is yet to come in the future of Phase 4 of the MCU.
