On Friday, Sep 19, RaiderVision launched its newest show, “RaiderRise.” The show has been in the works for over two years now and is being viewed by the staff as the mecca of their shows.
“Our goal is to have a variety of different things. We have Raider305, RaiderTake, RaiderRecap, RaiderRise, which connects all of it, from Gulliver News to World News – it’s the weekly combination of them all,” RaiderRise Executive Producer Lennon Spektor said.
Since last school year, the team has been preparing for the launch day, from placing people in the right roles to preparing the studio. Once the studio was ready, the team began practicing.
“Since this school year started, every Thursday we have been staying after school until 6:30pm, rehearsing and preparing for launch,” Broadcast teacher Zach Garrett said.
For the students, the show reflects their work and commitment to their craft, and for Executive Producer Lennon Spektor, the experience of bringing this show to life has taught her a great deal.
“I do a lot of planning on what roles every week, figuring out who does what,” Lennon Spektor said. “I’m really proud of the product we have, and I can’t wait to continue to improve the work,” Spektor said.
The basic process for most RaiderVision shows is pre-production, filming, and post-production. But for RaiderRise, they changed up the process.
“What makes this show [RaiderRise] different is that the process is in reverse,” Zach Garrett said. “Usually, for our other shows, we film first, then edit. But for this show, we have no post-production,” Garrett said.
The show itself is a reflection of the partnership in the Digital Mass Media Signature Program, as the “RaiderVoice,” the school’s newspaper, will help RaiderVision distribute their new show by featuring a link on the homepage of their site.
“I’m really happy for the launch of RaiderRise. We have been waiting a long time to bring the weekly news back on campus,” Digital Mass Media Department Chair Monica Rodriguez said, “It’s going to be another way that the community will be able to stay informed through one of our student-run news outlets.”
You can find the RaiderRise show every week on RaiderVision’s website and on the homepage of The Raider Voice.
