On Fri 14, boys’ varsity soccer team won their regional semi-final matchup versus SLAM Academy. The majority of the game was a defensive battle with strong efforts from junior goalie Sonny Garcia and junior defender Jacob Lombard. At halftime, the score was 0-0 and would stay that way until the final ten minutes when SLAM scored a goal in making the score 0-1. The Raiders’s season was saved by a corner kick from senior midfielder Nicolas Pineros with 59 seconds left. The game went into extra time, where no team was able to score, which led to the game going to a penalty shootout best of five. After five shots, however, the score was tied at 5-5 (including the goals from regulation time). This led to a 2nd round of pens where the team won after a SLAM player hit the crossbar, missing the shot, leading to the Gulliver win.
