The Spirit Store near the entrance of the new academic building offers a variety of school merchandise, allowing students to showcase their school spirit across campus. It serves as a place for students to express themselves and promote school pride.
Students and Faculty have been sharing their thoughts about what the new store has to offer. Many of them were excited about the items being sold such as t-shirts, hoodies, school-branded water bottles, and keychains.
“I love the new hoodies; they’re comfortable and cute. It’s fun to finally have a place to get school clothes and feel like there are so many more options,” sophomore Valentina Gonzalez said.
“The decision to open a spirit store was driven by the new building affording to open a brick-and-mortar type of shop,” Dean of Students Tyrone Sandaal said.
Although there was previously an online merchandise store, many of the staff felt having an in-person store allowed for more school pride around campus.
“You want adult supporters of the school, family members, and alumni, to be able to wear their pride when they come to Gulliver events. I think it is a nice addition, as it has offered students some new options and easier access. The rugby shirt is particularly nice,” Sandaal said.
Students can be seen throughout campus wearing the new t-shirt and sweatshirt designs, which are allowed as part of the school uniform. Some students, however, felt some of the clothing items were priced out of budget.
“I enjoy the store, but $60 for a hoodie or a shirt can be expensive for a lot of us. It would be better if the store had more affordable clothing wear items,” freshman Madison Leys said.
However, store employee Michael Ferguson has worked there since it opened at the beginning of the year and said the feedback has been positive.
“I think students have been enjoying the store pretty well because they are constantly in and out throughout the school day all week, and have been complementing the merch [merchandise] being sold,” Ferguson said.
